The Darrell Voss Latin Jazz Quintet with vocalist Maite Garcia to be featured

–The 2017 Arroyo Grande Village Summer Concert Series moves south of the border with the Darrell Voss Latin Jazz Quintet on Sunday, July 30. Join your friends at 1 p.m. at the Rotary Bandstand in the Village of Arroyo Grande for this unique Latin mix of vibes and vocals from great local musicians. Activities during the day will spotlight the concert sponsor Phillips 66 and the featured nonprofit the Arroyo Grande Public Art program. The Arroyo Grande Village Summer Concert Series, now in its 12th Season, is known for presenting the most eclectic and diverse musical offerings of all the regional summer series. A fun raffle, food, drinks and free tours of historical buildings in Heritage Square Park are also always available. This free Series is presented by the Arroyo Grande Village Improvement Association and the City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department. Rabobank again joins these organizations as the Featured Series Sponsor.

Vibraphonist/Percussionist Darrell Voss will lead an afternoon of Latin Jazz music that will feature vocalist Maite Garcia and other local stars: pianist Larry Arone, Saxophonist Karl Welz, Congalero Rick Collins, and bassist, Dylan Johnson. Voss’ vibraphone will speak the influences of Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, Stan Getz, Horace Silver and other great Jazz artists. Be sure to expect rhythmic synchronicity within the ensembles Montunos and Percussive jams. Darrell will be joined by Vocalist Maite Garcia’s fresh, nurturing sound, sure to resonate her warmth with Boleros, Cha Cha Cha’s, and Mambos. Garcia and Arone have collaborated over the years to create their Soulful Recording, “Que Cosa! Viejo Amor” which will be available for sale at the concert.

The featured nonprofit organization at this show will be the Arroyo Grande Public Art program. AGPA is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to bringing public art to the City of Arroyo Grande. Members endeavor to enrich Arroyo Grande’s visual appeal with art that reflects the city’s unique culture and rich history, while providing local artists an opportunity to showcase their work. AGPA representatives will be on hand at the show to disseminate information about its upcoming events. Beautiful handcrafted trays, coasters, trivets etc, made from fine woods and locally fired tiles with scenes from the Mason building mural will be available for purchase. Pictures of completed projects will be on display. You can sign up for membership or buy raffle tickets from AGPA volunteers as well.

This show’s concert sponsor is Phillips 66. The Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery is a long time sponsor of the Village Summer Concert Series and a big promoter of community events and organizations in Arroyo Grande and throughout San Luis Obispo County.

Employees from the overall series sponsor Rabobank will be on hand at the show. Rabobank has supported the Village Summer Concert Series since its inception in 2006 and its charming representatives greet concert attendees at every show with smiles, free waters and surprises! Major media sponsors for the 2017 Series are KSBY-TV, Big Big SLO, the Five Cities’ new radio station KYXZ 107.9FM – “Excellent Radio” and the family of Tolosa Press papers: the Coast News, the SLO City News and the Bay News.

Special raffles benefitting the Featured Nonprofit Organizations and various displays will further enliven the concerts.
