Farming leads the way with vineyards of old vine zinfandel, tempranillo and Rhône varietals which are sustainably dry-farmed and head-pruned. The concept of Chronic Cellars came about in the midst of harvest in 2004. We had used the term “The Chronic” to describe likable objects before, but we had never considered it a suitable descriptor for wine. We sat alongside the crush pad one evening in our wine stained clothes and wet boots laughing about the idea of a wine that targeted a casual lifestyle.
Jake and I were raised in the heart of Paso Robles wine country. Wine and the art of wine making have been apart of our lives since the early 80’s. After graduating from college we both returned to Paso Robles and joined the team at Peachy Canyon Winery. After a decade each of immersing ourselves in all aspects of the wine industry we decided to do our own project. We wanted to try something new and put the tools we have gathered to work on our dream. We had a vision and a desire to make our statement in the wine industry that we could not deny. After four years we took our first step toward Chronic Cellars.
Our vineyards are located six miles north of Paso Robles, CA, near the eastern slope of the Santa Lucia Mountains. The mainly southern-facing, rolling hill vineyards are planted on well-drained, moderately deep, silty clay loam soils. Hot summer days and cool nights provide ideal growing conditions for the vines. In 1966, the central coast of California was a small sleepy place. Tom Triol, a successful contractor, started a garage door company. He had one employee, Al Dueck, and between the two experienced builders and carpenters, it took them all day to hang their first door! From these humble beginnings, Hamon Overhead Door has grown to 15 employees and two offices. We have striven to provide our customers with the best products at reasonable prices from manufacturers all over the United States.
Tom’s daughter, Marjorie, and her husband, John Hamon, have dedicated themselves to serving the central coast’s garage door and automatic opener needs for over 34 years. With a total of 5 Hamons currently actively involved with the door company, we are truly a family run company.
