In 1982 the Eberle Winery production facility and tasting room were open for business and in 1994 Gary expanded underground, building the first wine caves in Paso Robles. Now, over 30 years later, Gary Eberle and his wife Marcy still greet guests daily with complimentary wine tastings, public tours of the production facility and 16,000 square feet of underground caves. They also play host to a variety of delicious and entertaining events held at the winery throughout the year.
We craft wines that represent a stylistic bridge between the Old and New worlds, capturing the finesse associated with European wines while celebrating the bold natural flavors of our estate vineyards in Paso Robles.
Our vineyards are located six miles north of Paso Robles, CA, near the eastern slope of the Santa Lucia Mountains. The mainly southern-facing, rolling hill vineyards are planted on well-drained, moderately deep, silty clay loam soils. Hot summer days and cool nights provide ideal growing conditions for the vines. As native New Orleanians, Tealy and Greg grew up in a culture of great jazz and good food. French wine was the principal accompliment to New Orleans cuisine at the time. Living in Europe during the 70’s and 80’s, enhanced our wine experience and appreciation of European wines. In the 90’s we returned to California and developed a greater appreciation of California wines.
After working for an international company for thirty years, we decided to start a second career dedicated to growing grapes and making great wines at affordable prices that enhance the culinary experience. After searching for a vineyard, we settled on the Central Coast of California in Paso Robles in 2007. It is still a place where the vineyard farmer and the wine maker are the same person and winemaking starts in the vineyard.

Founded in 1992, Lazer Star a family-owned and operated company. Howard Brewen is a third-generation resident of northern San Luis Obispo County. Being raised on his parents’ ranch in Templeton taught Howard the importance of hard work, common sense, creativity, and independent thinking which became the foundation on which he has built his life. After graduating from UC Davis, Howard began his professional career as a licensed racehorse trainer managing a small stable that eventually grew into a large operation competing at all five major racing venues within the state. Always seeking challenging opportunities, Howard’s work experience includes positions in the private and public sectors as well as entrepreneurial endeavors that remain closest to his heart. Service-oriented ventures have been a passion of Howards for many years. When the opportunity to put his business experience and people skills to work presented itself in the form of Party Partners Rental.
Steven Herring was born and raised in Atascadero. After graduating from high school, Steven attended college and graduated from Allan Hancock Firefighter 1 Academy. While applying for different fire departments and agencies, Steven worked full-time as a Field foreman for a directional drilling company and went to school at night to achieve his EMT certificate, though his heart was always set on being an Entrepreneur of his own successful business. The genesis of the wine story for Pear Valley began in the late 60’s when owner Tom Maas was stationed on an army base in Germany…in the midst of a vineyard. Here he learned to love both wine and the vineyard. Decades later, when the kids were grown and responsibilities waned, he was free to pursue his dream of owning and living in a vineyard. It started with 20 acres in 1999 and now Tom and Kathleen own 113 acres where they dedicate their energy and resources to providing the best environment for growing premium grapes. The vineyards are operated with sustainable farming practices to ensure that the best fruit possible will still be grown there when their grandchildren operate the farm.
The next phase of the dream began in the Spring of 2008 when they broke ground on a 14,000 winery and 5,000 square foot tasting room. Continuing the dedication to providing the best environment possible, the winery and tasting room were designed in partnership with PG&E through their “Savings By Design” program to design buildings that are energy efficient and environmentally sound.
In August 2012 Pear Valley officially achieved Sustainability in Practice (SIP) Vineyard Certification.
