Welcome to
San Luis
Obispo County
Spring on the Central Coast is a great time
to visit. The foothills are turning green
with new growth, and the season is promis-
ing warmer weather. The weather is perfect
for enjoying local festivals, sightseeing, and
outdoor adventures.
Visitors and locals alike are shopping, din-
ing, wine tasting, hiking, cycling, exploring
the beaches, tidepools, and marine life, and
the many historical landmarks that fill our
streets and back roads. There are hotels, mo-
tels, vacation rentals, and other lodging for
every budget and family. Outdoor activities
are plentiful. Be sure to take advantage of the
kid-friendly activities, too!
Local festivals are returning for spring and
summer, shops are offering new and unique
merchandise, and there are plenty of family-
friendly activities. Along with your favorite
places to visit while here, be among the first
to check out the newest things to do.
The next few months, blending into sum-
mer, have some of the most beautiful weather
on the Central Coast. Crisp sunny mornings
drift into warm, energizing afternoons. What
better way to spend a spring afternoon than
enjoying the epic hospitality of Joel and Judy
Cox at Mystic Hills Vineyard?
The Cox’s story is filled with tenacity,
hard work, and family. Married for 56 years
and counting, Mystic Hills Vineyard is a
family-run operation with their children and
grandchildren pitching in to help with the
vineyard, oversee tastings, and manage the
wine club.
Joel, an
Academy
Award-win-
ning film
editor who
frequently
works with
Clint Eastwood, has edited numerous films,
including “Gran Torino”, “Unforgiven”, “Mil-
lion Dollar Baby”, and more. He fell in love
with Bordeaux wines while traveling with
Eastwood to the Cannes International Film
Festival.
The Cox family offers private, complimen-
tary tastings at their San Miguel winery. “We
have so much love for people,” Judy said. “We
offer private tastings by appointment only,
which allows us to spend two or three hours
with each person or group. This gives us the
chance to get to know one another, and just
enjoy being together.”
Thank you for reading this copy of the
San Luis Obispo County Visitor’s Guide and
discovering so many of the unique, interest-
ing, and enjoyable places to see and things
to do. On behalf of our entire staff, I would
like to extend a warm welcome. We hope you
enjoy your stay.
Remember, if you run out of time, you are
always welcome back to do and see more!
Beth Brennan and her family
welcome you to San Luis
Obispo County.
