Alaska has magnificent glaciers,
the highest mountain in the
U.S., over 12,000 rivers, 3 million
lakes greater than 5 acres, and vast
open spaces that support its diverse
wildlife. But does it have the best
pizza? For that, you’ll have to go to
Klondike Pizza in the quaint Ar-
royo Grande Village.
From the peanut shells on the
floor, Alaskan artifacts, and Mickey
the Moose—to the framed goofy
tall tales on the entrance wall about
the origins of Klondike Pizza—ev-
ery view is reminiscent of Alaska.

Klondike pizzas are made
from scratch with your choice of
red or garlic sauce. Specialty pies
include The Roadkill, The Kodiak
Korn Pizza, The Hot Honey Pizza,
and The Chicken Cordon Bleu.
Klondike Pizza also offers gluten-
free pizzas and vegan options. The
menu includes juicy burgers, grilled
chicken, and baked sandwiches
served on warm French rolls, plus
fresh salads—including the infa-
mous Klondike Salad served with
the restaurant’s secret sweet ’n’ sour
dressing.
A large, heated patio lets guests
enjoy the beautiful Central Coast
weather year-round. Monday nights
are “Unplugged Nights.” Bring the
family, pick a board game, and un-
plug together. For many locals, it’s
become a Monday night tradition.

Klondike Pizza has been serving
“Good Times ’n Good Grub” since
1988 in Arroyo Grande and since
1996 in Santa Maria. Mike and Pam
moved from Alaska with their two
young sons and still run the restau-
rants today with the help of their
outstanding crews and managers.
These days, they have five grand-
kids, and Pam writes the “Murder
Blog Mysteries,” set on California’s
Central Coast—where her protago-
nist’s favorite pizza just happens to
be Klondike Pizza. Go figure. Her
