5-8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, launches the
festival with over 30 tamale vendors
tempting your taste buds from 11 a.m.
to 7 p.m. Reminder! Tamales freeze
very well, so plan on stocking your
freezer!
Enjoy over 100 vendors from ta-
males to a wide variety of other kinds
of food, Margaritas, beer, cider, wine,
artisan merchandise, and live music,
too! Proceeds from the Tamale Festival
adult beverage sales benefit Friends of
the Central Coast Zoo.
One of the best parts is that entry
to the Tamale Festival is free!
The event is held at the Sunken
Garden, 6505 El Camino Real. For

Don’t forget about June!
June 6 features the Ice Cream
Zoofari at the Central Coast Zoo from
5-8 p.m. Enjoy lots of ice cream while
learning how the animals stay cool.

The 10th Annual Cornhole
Showdown Tournament is June 6 at
the Sunken Gardens. All ages and skill
levels are welcome.

The 29th Annual Atascadero
Lakeside Wine Festival is on June 13,
from 4-8 p.m., and includes admis-
sion to the Central Coast Zoo. This
festival showcases premier wines from
the Central Coast. Boasting over 100
wines and distilled spirits from more
than 50 wineries, breweries, and cider-
ies, the event includes food purveyors
serving delicious local food, live mu-
sic, and incredible art exhibitors.
Guests enjoy unlimited tastings
and an exclusive “roar and pour” that
puts you up close and personal with
animals at the Central Coast Zoo.
Bring a blanket and a low-back
chair to enjoy the live music and other
activities that fill the park. A portion
of the proceeds benefits the Central
Coast Zoo.

More upcoming events
June 13 and August 29 are
movie nights, featuring fun,
games, and movies under the stars.
Beginning at 7 p.m., participate
in fun activities including soccer,
chalk art, and hula hooping con-
tests. The movie starts shortly after
sunset, and food is available for
purchase. Movie nights are held
at Colony Park Softball Field #2 at
5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero.
June 20 kicks off the free Satur-
day in the Park Summer Concert
Series. Concerts run through
August 15, except for July 4 and
18. Concerts are at the Atascadero
Lake Park from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Bring a blanket, low-backed chair,
and the entire family to enjoy the
park and the music. The park is
located at 9305 Pismo Avenue.
