Wednesday, June 28th, 2017

–Just in time for summer, Tangent Winery has released canned rosé and sauvignon blanc. The grab-and-go goodness is now available nationwide and is sure to be the center of every summer celebration.

Owned by Niven Family Wine Estates, Tangent creates fresh, crisp and vibrant wines that are a departure from the ordinary and the canned rosé and sauvignon blanc are no exception. Both wines are crafted with grapes sourced from the Niven family’s historic estate Paragon Vineyard in the Edna Valley of San Luis Obispo. “Tangent’s new canned wines highlight the best of what is available from our certified sustainable vineyards, raising the bar on the quality of canned wines,” says John Niven, vice president of sales and marketing at Niven Family Wine Estates. “These delicious wines are ready to drink and easy to recycle without all the fuss of corkscrews and glasses. Cans make it easier and faster to enjoy and celebrate without pause.”

“We thought that an innovative rosé was the perfect way to showcase the unique attributes of our cool climate, sustainable estate,” says winemaker Christian Roguenant. The 2016 Rosé is made with Albariño, Viognier and splashes of Pinot Noir, Grenache and Syrah.

The 100-percent estate grown 2016 Sauvignon Blanc is bright, silky and racy with flavors of green apple, lime, grapefruit and lemon zest accompanied by notes of minerality and citrus aromatics. This wine is a rare example of a cool climate sauvignon blanc and is the perfect style to be enjoyed from a can.

“With Tangent, we are constantly exploring and thinking outside the box,” says Niven. “Putting wine in cans is a refreshing new way to enjoy Tangent, so there are no summer seconds wasted by opening bottles.” Tangent cans are 12.7 ounces each with an MSRP of $7.99. The Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé cans will be distributed nationally.

The Tangent tasting room is located at 5828 Orcutt Road, San Luis Obispo. For more information, visit tangentwines.com.
