Mid-State Fair 2024

Zac Brown Band and Jelly Roll to perform on the main stage

—The 2024 California Mid-State Fair (CMSF) is set to delight visitors from across the country from July 17 through July 28 at the Paso Robles Event Center, where all can gather to play carnival games, admire crafting and baking exhibits, and watch award-winning artists in the main arena.

Get set for an out-of-this-world experience this year as the CMSF theme is “Wide Open Spaces”, a playful mix of the rolling hills of the Paso Robles countryside and the wonder of outer space. Expect to see cowboy boots and constellations, including other creative interpretations of the theme in the quilting and photography exhibits, along with so much more.

“This year’s theme is especially unique as we look to the stars for inspiration. The mix between country and outer space will make for many interactive and educational exhibits for all age groups. Be on the lookout for UFOs and spaceships making their way to Paso Robles this July,” said Colleen Bojorquez, CEO of the CMSF, in a press release.

Make sure to enjoy the many food and drink vendors located around the fair, such as crispy funnel cakes, tasty garlic fries, and classic summer food such as hot dogs and tri-tip sandwiches; for a true carnival experience, try the cheese on a stick or caramel corn. Cocktails, wine, and beer can also be found in multiple locations; sodas and lemonade can also provide a cool drink. Visit the market vendors to shop for clothing, artisan goods, and more before attending a concert.

Take a turn in the carnival section, where rides twist and swing you around. If you want a calm ride, enjoy the views on the Grand Carousel or Giant Yellow Wheel; for those wanting a ride full of adrenaline, brave the Zipper, Vertigo Swings, or Hyperdrive. Try your hand at winning a prize at ring toss, balloon pops, and much more.

Keep an eye out for fantastic demonstrations that take place throughout the day, such as draft horse shows and farming advice. Take a break from the sun to admire the plants in the Flower Building, watch a salsa-making competition, or cheer on the tractor parade.

The famous Chumash Grandstand Arena will host outstanding performances this year, with Zac Brown Band and Jelly Roll already confirmed. The Zac Brown Band performs on July 21, playing songs from their decades-long career such as “Chicken Fried” and “Homegrown”. They have three Grammy awards, over 9 million albums sold, and are well known for putting on a high-energy concert. Jelly Roll, awarded Best New Artist of the Year at the Country Music Awards, rocks the stage on July 23 with popular songs such as “Save Me” and “Need A Favor”.

The California Mid-State Fair is located at 2198 Riverside Avenue in Paso Robles. Runs from July 17 to July 28. For more information, visit midstatefair.com or call (805) 239- 0655.
