You don’t even have to like golf to have a great time
Dairy Creek Golf Course and Event Center, just a few minutes north of San Luis Obispo along the iconic Highway 1, is a unique family-friendly escape for a day or a few days. Along with a par 36, 9-hole championship golf course, this former dairy farm features a variety of golf-themed activities, plus an 18-hole disc golf course, camping, exceptional food and beverages, and a calendar full of events from music festivals to weddings. Dairy Creek is the Central Coast’s ultimate venue for recreation, relaxation, and celebrations.
Your experience starts by pulling off Highway 1, into a property that was once a Swiss-Italian dairy farm, hence the name Dairy Creek. The uber-friendly staff makes you feel like family as you enter the clubhouse and Dairy Creek’s well-stocked pro shop. If you’re interested in hitting the links, tee it up on the par-36, 9-hole championship golf course that features five tee box options from which to play the three par 3, three par 4, and three par 5 holes.
Want to up your game? Improve your skills by booking a lesson with one of the accomplished instructors. Get in the game with Swing Time! This modern entertainment venue is San Luis Obispo’s version of Topgolf. The same Toptracer cameras used to track the ball flight during PGA Tour broadcasts will track your shots at Swing Time. Golfers and non-golfers alike have a blast playing a variety of games, like Angry Birds, or testing their skills at world-famous golf courses like Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, or St. Andrews. As day turns to night, the fun intensifies as the sun sets behind Hollister Peak and the glowing sky takes second stage to nine thirty-foot LED interactive targets which flash and pulsate when hit by a golf shot. Swing Time has ten bays on a single level with comfortable, climate-controlled outdoor seating and over 30 TV screens.
SLO County Golf Course Superintendent, Josh Heptig, says, “Swing Time is best described as a combination of a driving range, sports bar, pinball machine, and bowling alley all wrapped into one place to play, eat, drink, and be merry. Rent one of our comfortable bays to hang with friends, enjoying a delicious meal while hitting shots with a glass of local wine, beer, or cocktails. Swing Time brings a unique experience to the community.”
Need a break between rounds, or just want to hang out? Relax and enjoy delicious treats and drinks served onsite.

In the ‘fore!front’ of fun
The course has been wildly successful and added a new dimension to SLO County’s demand for outdoor recreation. Golf, an 18-hole disc golf course, games, great food and drink, camping, and events are just the beginning. Dairy Creek has been a great course to play since 1997 and has been celebrated as a pioneer in environmental management, inspiring conservational efforts and zero-waste innovations in the county.
Return often to play and stay, and watch the grounds grow as more camping structures and amenities are being added to the property, with 22 cabins already erected. The location is jaw-droppingly beautiful, the food is exceptional, and the opportunity to unwind while playing a round or two is practically guaranteed.
