Evening tours evoke feelings of a bygone era

—Hearst Castles evening tours have just begun a new season. Visitors to the castle will experience the magnificent site illuminated at night.

The Evening tours feature the Living History Program, which evokes the heyday of this great estate. Docent in elegant attire from the 1930s recreate a sense of the social life of William Randolph Hearst’s guests, as they socialize in the assembly room or other areas of the castle. Other docents portray household staff attending to the needs of Mr. Hearst’s guests.

The evening tour progresses from Casa del Mar (One of the guest houses) to the main rooms and kitchen of Casa Grande, the main house. The tour continues upstairs through the main library and Mr. Hearst’s private gothic suite. Completing this magical 100-minute tour with a visit to the breathtaking indoor roman pool with its blue and gold mosaics, visitors to Hearst Castle will leave with long-lasting memories of bygone nights at “The Enchanted Hill.”

Spring evening tours are conducted on most Friday and Saturday nights, through May 19 and most mid-week nights from March 26 through April 5, 2018. Visitors should arrive 15 minutes before their tour time and allow two hours and ten minutes for this tour. Evening Tour prices are $36 for adults and $18 for youth aged 5 through 12.
