—The Downtown SLO Farmer’s Market will host its 9th annual Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 9 from 6–9 p.m. on Chorro Street between Higuera and Monterey. This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. The event is sponsored by Pacific Energy Company.

The celebration, themed “Getting To Know Those Who Served”, will feature a procession through The Market, ceremony, veteran’s organization booths, and appearances from local dignitaries. The 40th infantry division band of Joint Forces Training Base from Los Alamitos, CA will be performing throughout the night, as well as singing our National Anthem. Says Gabriel Granados, SLO County Veterans Outreach Coordinator: “We’re excited for many fun additions to this year’s celebration including a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy while learning more about those who served in the military. By attending, you help show our local veterans they’re a valued group in the community.”

Market attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a Photo Passport Challenge. Attendees who take photos at each station and post their favorite to Instagram with the hashtag #DowntownSLOVeteransCelebration will be placed in a drawing to win gifts from local businesses that support veterans. Attendees are also encouraged to share and RSVP to the event on the event Facebook page.
