Olivas Road

–Whether you are on a day adventure along the Creston Wine Trail or hunting for the perfect olive oil, the Olivas de Oro Olive Company has a multitude of award winning oils and beautiful landscapes that every visitor will enjoy.

Frank and Marti Menacho taste their fresh olive oil in production.

Owners Frank and Marti Menacho.

In 1999, Olivas de Oro Olive Company owners Frank and Marti Menacho set out to create quality olive
oil in Oroville with a 160 acre orchard. The Menacho’s moved to Creston, along with their 2000 trees, in 2007 and have created a reputable name in the surrounding community for their friendly service, stunning views at the mill and palatable olive oils.

To reach the ranch, make sure to admire the century year old orchard leading to the property. When you reach the tasting room, make sure to try samples of their three extra virgin olive oils, eight different flavored olive oils and vinegars. Different varieties, including black truffle and their classic mission blend, are a must try. The olives are pressed on site by their Italian Pieralisi mill from November to January. Along with the tastings, you can taste other products made on the ranch and take home some of their grass fed lamb. A private three bedroom guest house is available for the guests who wish to extend their stay on the ranch. Also offered are informative tours of the orchard, including the sheep pen and mill, by appointment. Visitors can pack along a picnic to dine under the trees for a picturesque lunch.

“It comes from our passion and that we’ve been doing this for a long time… We are very involved in the industry…it’s a passion and continual learning and evolving,” said Marti.

The olive oil is of the highest caliber, with Frank being a master blender and blending extra virgin olive oil for the past 18 years. Both Marti and Frank are members of the California Olive Oil Council, and Frank is an alumnus of their Taste Panel that certifies extra virgin olive oil. They also trained in Italy to become olive oil sommeliers. Frank learned about the olive oil industry through his work with UC Davis, the California Olive Oil Council and restaurateurs. Furthermore, this family run business provides a friendly atmosphere as you tour the grounds, savor the olive oil and chat with the staff. Marti provides guests with recipes for dishes such as Meyer Lemon Seared Halibut with Beurre Blanc Sauce, Rosemary Olive Oil Focaccia Bread, and Sausage, Chicken & Oyster Mushroom Risotto- all incorporating their signature olive oil, of course.

If you are looking for day of gourmet olive oil tasting or for a getaway to a pristine country location, head over to Olivas de Oro Olive Company’s ranch.
