Cavalier Coastal Kitchen overlooks San Simeon’s Pico Beach with a panoramic view of the ocean. A quick drive off Highway 1 and close to major landmarks, a meal at this restaurant is part of the San Simeon experience.

Just three miles from Hearst Castle, and a short distance from the historic Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and elephant seal rookery, there’s a warm, family-friendly ambiance and affordable, high-quality cuisine.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant is part of the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort. The restaurant is known for its premium steaks and hamburgers, and some of the finest seafood in San Simeon.

The breakfast menu includes tempting dishes such as Bailey’s French toast and specialty omelets. Breakfast is just the beginning. Lunch offerings include burgers, fish and chips, and grilled salmon. Dinner caps off a day of North Coast adventure with steaks, locally caught seafood, fresh local vegetables, and much more. Top it all off with a selection of award-winning local San Luis Obispo County wines.

The vision that built a San Simeon legacy

Founder Harris Victor and his wife, Maxine Terry, visited San Simeon in 1959 to escape the cold weather of Washington. At the time, there was only one hotel in the area, causing the couple to wonder why.

Harris had a vision and purchased some San Simeon property without another thought that same day. That land hosted the couple’s first project, the Silver Surf Motel. In 1964, they sold the motel and purchased an acre of oceanfront that became the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort. He built the first shopping center in San Simeon in 1972. Unfortunately, he passed away unexpectedly in 1975, but his vision continued. After a few years without his leadership, the business reorganized and began expanding in 1980. The following year, the Cavalier Coastal Kitchen was opened.

Harris’s legacy lives on through his projects and the memorable experiences of guests and staff.
