The fresh casual menu has something for every appetite
Odyssey World Cafe has been a local Paso Robles favorite for over 23 years. The cafe is a local hotspot for lunch and dinner as well as a favored downtown meeting place for friends, family and business meetings. Owners, Carmelo and Anna Rodriguez, who purchased the cafe from founders Dawn Gregory and John Hawley, are long-time players on the Odyssey cafe team. Well, actually, Carmelo is the longest player, having served as the cafe’s kitchen manager and chef for over ten years for the previous owners. Anna has been helping manage the cafe since she and Carmelo took the reins in November 2021.
Odyssey is still a place where locals gather for business lunches, book groups, birthday parties, bridal showers and popular spot for first dates! From lunch, afternoon coffee, wine and snacks, to dinner and dessert. The fresh casual kitchen menu has something for every appetite from soup, salads, stir fry bowls, tacos, gyros, burgers, steaks, chicken and seafood, Italian dishes, sandwiches and wraps. Top off your choices with fresh brewed coffee drinks, local beer and wine and save room for dessert.
“Our menu boasts a favorite for every customer. We are proud of our grilled salmon salad, chicken picatta and each of our taco options offer a unique salsa that should not be missed!” said Anna. “For the past 10 years, Carmelo has helped curate the menu to what it is today and it is with his guidance that I know we will continue the tradition and success of Odyssey.”
Carmelo has been active in the restaurant and hospitality industry for over 20 years. He emigrated from Guanajuato, Mexico in 1995 and has worked his way up through the ranks. Anna comes from a background of small family owned business and knows first-hand the satisfaction that comes from working for yourself, supporting employees and providing a service of which you can be proud.
Benefiting from stepping into an already loved staple in the community, Anna and Carmelo met the challenge to meet loyal customer’s expectations and their “work to surpass them with a renewed energy and dedication,” is continuing to keep the Odyssey on the list of local favorites.
“Carmelo and I both love serving quality, home cooked meals and sharing our home with those we love. We want our children to witness the fruition of hard work and to also be active players in this family dream,” said Anna.
The Rodriguez family touches to small details keeps the Odyssey World Café a unique and popular restaurant. Improving the quaint back patio and increasing outdoor seating so guests can enjoy the beautiful Central Coast weather are just a few of the special touches that have been added. Carmelo continues perfecting the cafe’s diverse menu and making each and every item a new favorite.
