ONX Winery

ONX Estate Vineyards offers so many wine experiences, it may be hard to choose from between them

The vineyards, located on 127 acres, are home to a plethora of varietals: grenache, tempranillo, mouvedre, syrah, petite sirah, malbec, alicante bouchet, sauvignon blanc, viognier and many others. This is due to the unique terroir and micro climates, and gives the wine explorer so many wonderful choices to sample, and the winemaker so many opportunities to produce interesting, tantalizing wines.

Associate winemaker Jeff Strekas takes pride in the fact that ONX is “primarily a blending house,” and with so many varietals to choose from, to mix and match, it gives an unlimited opportunity to come up with creative, delicious, award winning wines year after year… wines that are constantly changing and evolving.

Taste the difference in Tin City

Head on over to Tin City, Paso Robles’ newest, hippest, tasting commune, where you can stroll among almost 20 different tasting rooms. The ONX tasting room and winery is located at the end of Limestone way, and a perfect place to start your Tin City adventure.

The tasting menu is constantly changing. Depending on the season, you may begin with a tantalizing Field Day, an alluring blend of sauvignon blanc, grenache blanc and viognier. Perfect for a warm afternoon or sipping on the patio during a summer evening, this blend changes year after year, keeping you coming back for more.

Your ONX tasting will always include at least four or more additional current releases, and sometimes a library selection. Jeff is not shy about “experimenting” with different grapes and percentages year after year, making your curiosity peak as to “what will next year’s taste like.”

Enjoy sitting in the tasting room, chatting with the knowledgeable attendants, and even getting a peek at an operating winery. ONX’s Tin City tasting room is comfortable, unpretentious, relaxing and the friendly staff is certain to make your experience one you will not only remember, but make you want to repeat. For the novice or beginning wine drinker, or the more sophisticated palate, this is a perfect place to expose yourself to what Paso “blends” are all about!

Visit The estate vineyard

After sipping at the tasting room, plan to treat yourself to a fun and educational visit to the vineyard estate. More than anything, guided by your personal concierge, you will get an in-depth view of “what” makes grape growing and wine making so special—and how each vintage is a challenge and how it is reflected in the final product that you ultimately savor, sip and enjoy.

There are various vineyard experiences to choose from, please refer to website for details, including a vineyard “hike,” or a motorized vineyard tour. Of course, wine in the vineyard is included…and special tastings. You will be amazed at how fun it will be to learn about the 18 varietals of grapes planted on 57 acres, how different soil areas (including the way they face) will affect what is planted and how the grapes taste. It may sound “geeky” and it is! But it’s geeky fun-and your ONX’s concierge’s knowledge, passion and sense of humor shows through.
