Fratelli Perata
Dry-farmed grapes produce exquisite wines in Paso Robles

Fratelli Perata Winery in Paso Robles is full of character and charm, run by a down-to-earth family of farmers. The Perata family is dedicated and focused on their wines’ exquisite quality and flavor. The small, rustic tasting room houses some of the best wines in Paso Robles, with an inviting family who pours their hearts and souls into each bottle. Located down a scenic dirt road on the West side of Paso, visitors to the winery can feel like they are miles into the country, hidden amongst the rolling Paso Robles hills. Fratelli Perata is a great spot to taste some of the best reds in Paso Robles, and relax outdoors in their classic white gazebo while enjoying a breathtaking view of the miles of vineyards.

The Perata family originated in Italy, with a history of winemaking in their background. Italian brothers Gino and Joe Perata purchased 40 acres in Paso Robles in 1977, intending to establish a vineyard. They started planting grapes in the 80’s, and sold them to other local wineries. Gino and his father had a history of creating amazing wine in their home cellar every year, so in 1987, the decision was made to start a winery. The brothers wanted to showcase the quality of their grapes. This quality was vindicated by a streak of gold medals from 1990 to 1998 at international and state competitions.

Visitors to the winery experience a laid back atmosphere, where the true wine lover can feel right at home. The unpretentious tasting room of Fratelli Perata displays an artist’s mural of the family home in Genoa, Italy, where Grandfather Giuseppe Perata learned his craft. The specially cut labels on the bottles capture the essence of the mural, paying homage to their family and history. The wines are delicious, full, and ready to drink. The three daughters of the founder Gino grew up with the winery. Cathy (UC Davis, Enology) and Joanne (Cal Poly, Accounting) now help run the entire operation. Gino’s wife Carol Perata is a wonderful cook and loves to share her favorite recipes and pairings, while running the tasting room and guiding visitors to their favorite new bottles of wine.

Find incredible Estate Italian and Bordeaux varietals expertly crafted and prepared, along with knowledgeable and friendly service at Fratelli Perata Winery. The tasting room proudly serves up impeccable wines without the distractions of marketing, gift shops and merchandising. The simple truth is the family loves what they do. Taste the wines that speak for themselves. With just 2 tons of yield per acre, the winery is focused on keeping its berries small. These dry-farmed grapes are tastier due to a higher skin to juice ratio and longer hang time on the vine. They pack a bigger flavor and body into each bottle of wine. The results are food-friendly wines. Think Italian.

These wines are sold only through the tasting room or online orders. Fratelli Perata has an enthusiastic wine club and invites new friends to visit. Expect to find consistent Italian hospitality and a family who revels in creating their distinguished wines. Surrounded by beautiful oak trees and expansive views, Fratelli Perata Winery is the picturesque setting where unpretentious winemakers create something truly special. Enjoy a visit with the family, where the tasting fee is waived with a bottle purchase, and flavorful red wines can be savored with loved ones.
