We Olive was born from passion; a passion for locally sourced, healthy, delicious, artisan extra virgin olive oil! Father and daughter Lloyd Messer and Dana Brown realized their dream of finding a place to express their passion for wine in 2000, when they established Calcareous Vineyards on one of the highest limestone plateaus on Paso Robles’ west side. Both Lloyd and Dana, experienced wine distributors in their native Iowa, recognized that the west side of Paso Robles had potential to produce world class wines. Their acquisition of 342 acres atop solid calcareous rock reaching 1,800 feet above sea level confirmed their dedication to producing the highest quality, terroir driven wines possible. It is a labor of love to cultivate fruit on this challenging land, but the reward is immediately apparent when tasting the wines. Calcareous has for over a decdade now, produced a collection of world–class blends and varietal wines that exhibit Paso Robles’ claim to being “distinct, different”. Lloyd passed on in 2006, and Dana advances their vision with the help of her sister Erika.

OUR WINEMAKING PHILOSOPHY
At JUSTIN, we combine traditional Old World methods—like hand-harvesting and small-barrel aging in French oak—with New World technology. For example: the “Air Knife,” an ingenious process invented by our winemakers, boosts grape quality and efficiency.

Once the grapes are harvested, our winemakers—some of the best in the business—gather to sort, select, age, taste, blend and decide what goes into every bottle.

Living the Dream

Pinot Noir is the driving passion of Marc Goldberg and Maggie D’Ambrosia, husband and wife owners of Windward Vineyard. Windward Vineyard is dedicated exclusively to producing Burgundian style Pinot Noir. To make the “Great American Pinot Noir,” one that rivals those produced in Burgundy, is the couple’s passion.

Marc and Maggie purchased and planted the vineyard in 1989 based upon the terroir and microclimate of the Paso Robles Westside. The combination of the cooling Pacific breezes, the calcareous soil and the 50 degree daily drop in temperature produce exemplary Pinot Noir.

With the Burgundian French term, “Monopole” vision of total control over both the vineyard and the winemaking, the 15-acre vineyard is planted to four notable French clones.

Windward Vineyard is dedicated to putting Paso Robles’ Pinot Noir back on the map, following in the footsteps of two significant figures in California wine history. In the late 1960’s, consultant Andre Tchelistcheff supervised the Paso Robles Hoffman Mountain Ranch property of Dr. Stanley Hoffman. In the 1970’s, Hoffman’s Pinot Noirs gained worldwide recognition, and were drinking well over 20 years later.

Since the 1993 debut in 1995, each of Windward’s SOLD OUT vintages have achieved inspiring acclaim, particularly within the community of wine aficionados who appreciate the layered complexity of Burgundian styled Pinot Noir. Marc explains. “We knew we could count on the vineyard to produce formidable fruit. It is living up to our expectations as it matures and continues to develop layered complexity.”

Light at Sensorio features two walk-through installations by acclaimed artist Bruce Munro. The Rava’s own more than 1,200 acres of premium vineyards that span from the foothills of the Santa Lucia Range in Monterey County to the Rava Estate in the heart of Paso Robles Wine Country. Owner, Chad Rava oversees and manages all vineyard operations, new plantings and harvest decisions. By having a hand in all production processes, the Rava’s are able to focus on terroir driven quality and their signature sparkling wines.

Paso Robles Vineyards

The estate vineyards start with a 505 continuous acre property, located in the El Pomar District, one of 11 sub appellations in the Paso Robles AVA. Once home to an Arabian Horse Ranch, Rava Estate was established in 2016 by Chad and Lauren Rava.

Located adjacent to Rava Winery, the estate vineyard is planted to 15 signature varietals from Italian and French origins. You will find Grenache, Teroldego, Nebbiolo, Negro Amaro, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Primitivo, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, Calabrese, Tannat and Merlot.

The vineyard features warm daytime temperatures and cool marine breezes late in the day that flow through the Templeton Gap. The soils are a mix of loam, clay and limestone, providing excellent drainage and ideal growing conditions.
