Claiborne & Churchill is a small, family owned and operated winery, founded in 1983 and located in the heart of the Edna Valley, just outside San Luis Obispo, California. Inspired by the wines of Alsace, we specialize in premium dry wines made from Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris grapes, as well as handcrafted Pinot Noir from several nearby vineyards. Meet owner Joel Tolbert

Joel is a third generation craftsman from the Central Coast. He has always enjoyed painting, helping his father’s painting company during the summer months from the age of 10 years old. He even paved his way through school by working as a painter. During all these years of painting, he’s had the opportunity to research and apply most every method of paint application. From full exterior houses to the finest furniture and cabinetry, Joel and his team of painters know their stuff.
